Corvette on the beach

This was the second cake I made for my father’s 60th birthday. Since before I was born he had been working on restoring a 1966 Corvette. It was finally finished recently and he has it down in Florida where my parents now live. This cake was a tribute to him finally “living his dream”. Chocolate cake was frosting in vanilla buttercream that had been died blue. Brown sugar was used to simulate sand. The corvette was outlined on wafer paper with edible markers and then painted in with food coloring.
