About Us

Around the World in 80 Cakes was founded in 2009 by Jennifer Rao. Jennifer had found a love for baking at
an early age when she used to watch her "Grandma Tillie" in the kitchen. But instead of culinary school she
decided to attend Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA where she got her Bachelors degree in
Chemical Engineering. After graduating from college she went to work in the Petroleum industry for 7
years, during which time she discovered her passion and talent for cake decorating and baking. After taking
many cake decorating classes and even teaching classes herself it became very clear that she had found her
true calling and took the leap by opening her own business. Around the World in 80 Cakes is dedicated to
producing delicious and beautiful works of art all in an environmentally conscious way. The company
employs "green" practices wherever possible and hopes to promote global awareness. Not only
environmental awareness, but cultural awareness in the unique cakes we offer using flavors from around
the world.
