Leaves and Scrolls Fall Wedding Cake

Fall Wedding Cake

This round fall wedding cake was frosted in ivory buttercream and wrapped in a rust satin ribbon to match the wedding invitations. Whenever I put a satin ribbon on a buttercrea cake I first put a fondant ribbon around each tier. That way the satin ribbon isn’t touching the frositng, because if it did the moisture from the frosting would start to seep through and discolor the ribbon.

The sides of the cake were decorated with hand piped scroll work and leaves also in ivory buttercream.

A wreath of hand made gumpaste maple leaves was created for the top of the cake to match the leaves that were on the wedding invitation. I used a variety of petal dusts to get the rich fall colors on the leaves.

I soon rediscovered my passion for baking and cake decorating. I would always bring back new ingredients and ideas from the places I visited and incorporate them into my cake recipes. Read More…
