Inspirational Cupcake Toppers

These inspirational cupcake toppers were ordered by two very wonderful sisters. They were throwing a party for their third sister, who had recently recovered from breast cancer, to celebrate her recovery and her strength. I was honored when they asked me to make the cupcakes for the party.

inspirational cupcake toppersThey wanted the cupcakes to be very colorful so they chose 8 different color cupcake papers. I decorated each cupcake with color coordinating edible sugar. Since the party was about hope and strength they asked me to make cupcake toppers that had inspirational quotes on them. I found a number of quotes online, then printed them out and glued them to lollipop sticks so that they could be stuck into the cupcakes. The picture above is an example of what the final cupcakes looked like.

To switch things up a little they also asked me to make some decorated brownies. I used a flower shaped cookie cutter to cut out the brownies once they were completely cooled. I made some modeling chocolate to decorate the tops of the brownies with. I rolled out the modeling chocolate and used the same flower shape cutter to cut it out. I flipped the brownie over so that the flat bottom was facing up, then attached the modeling chocolate cutout to it using a little raspberry jam. I used a pretty mold I had to make the fondant flower that topped it off, also attached using a little dab of jam.

Hi, I’m Jen

After graduating from college in 2003 I went to work as a Chemical Engineer. My new job gave me the chance to travel the world and experience many foods and cultures I had never known before. I soon rediscovered my passion for baking and cake decorating. I would always bring back new ingredients and ideas from the places I visited and incorporate them into my cake recipes. Read More…
