Naval Submarine Cake

Naval Submarine Cake

A bride, who I made a wedding cake for this past weekend (will post pics of that later), asked me to make a Naval submarine cake for her father’s birthday. It was just a few days before the wedding so with all the family in town she was having a party for him. He was an officer in the Navy for many years and was stationed in Hawaii which is where the bride grew up. It was a tradition that the wives of the crewman would make a huge lei of flowers that would then be placed on the submarine as it came into port from being out at sea. She asked if I could recreate a submarine with a Hawaiian lei on the cake for her dad.

I soon rediscovered my passion for baking and cake decorating. I would always bring back new ingredients and ideas from the places I visited and incorporate them into my cake recipes. Read More…
