Tiddlywinks Cake

A customer recently asked me to make a Tiddlywinks cake for her husband. He is originally from England and she was throwing him a party to celebrate how many years he has lived in the United States. For the theme of the cake she asked me to incorporate his favorite game of Tiddlywinks. Upon doing some research I discovered that, although not very popular in the U.S., Tiddlywinks is very popular in England. There is even a English Tiddlywinks association.

The cake was frosted in buttercream and covered with fondant “winks” placed all around. The pot on top of the cake was handmade out of fondant and has a wink mid-air. The American and British flags are made from edible images.

I soon rediscovered my passion for baking and cake decorating. I would always bring back new ingredients and ideas from the places I visited and incorporate them into my cake recipes. Read More…
